My Sweet Memory—- Cakes, Latte and even Stationery!

Everyone knows well enough that in Aussie, shops do not open till late. When dark falls, the city are usually referred to as ‘Ghost town’–Silence, that’s it. The only thing you can hear is probably the sound of wind.

Well, having been living in this new city- Sydney for about 3 months or so, it is not the case like a ‘ghost town’, but rather, a busy and vibrant city even till late. And yes, this specific DESSERT cafe that I am about to recommend, opens till midnight! Now, this is a huge plus point. You can have something sweet after a sumptuous dinner and not worry that: ‘There are  prolly no desserts anywhere to be found after 8pm.’

The Sweet Memory— an asian or rather, a KOREAN cafe that entitles you to fine quality coffee, a wide range of appetizing CAKES, and also an area of retail sections on adorable stationery. I mean, if you know korea well enough, you’ll prolly know how cute and unique their stationery are.

The Interior

Just look at the delicious selection of cakes! And trust me, one slice of  is so DAMN HUGE!

If you are craving for something savory, they serve a a range of sandwiches, quiches and pies too. Many choices just to suit your daily cravings. Isn’t that great? 🙂

The chandelier lighting—- one of the impressive interior design that makes me fell in love with this place. Just look at that marvelous creation of using potted plants, wired stars and lights hanging together!

The FOOD
Even though I only tried just one type of their cake, it pretty much sums up my review that ‘ I WILL COME BACK HERE’!! And for those that are fans of matcha/ greentea, give their greentea ice blended a go! It’s their signature beverages. Of course, if you are feeling cold, you can always have the hot green tea latte that I tried. Taste equally awesome!

 The AMBIANCE
You can never go wrong with the choice of wooden furniture! My sweet memory is able to provide a comfy and soothing ambiance. Classic and lifestyle aspects were delivered, whereby they separate their business into two components: DESSERT and STATIONARY.

The PRICE
Good value for that slice of cake.— approx. $7? You can just share it with your friend. The coffee and green tea latte is average pricing. Norm. So, still good to come and give this place a try!

Many outlets available, so more choices catered! ^^

Not Eggs and Bacon but NARNIE for brunch.—Three Williams.

If you are craving for something out of the menu for brunch, Three Williams is a must visit cafe.

But before I proceed, just a small tip: DO MAKE A RESERVATION. If not, you will have to wait for an hour or so. That’s what happened to us.
Unfortunately.

The interior.

Chai latte in a pot! — It’s so adorable.

Bimbimbap (pork with kimchi) Narnie— Fresh on the menu!

Glazed Beef Brisket with Slaw.— Another asian fusion dish that you definitely want to give it a try! *yums*

Or, if you are french-dish kinda person, you might go for something even healthier.— Brioshe french toast.

Fish Croquette– not just an ordinary one, this has potato mashed fillings in it! And the simple egg-like display, is certainly child-friendly and loving. 🙂

Of course, there is always space for dessert! ^^

The FOOD

  • Bimbimbap Naan— Asian fusion kinda taste. The dough of the NAAN is really good. But, the setback is probably the fact that the meat seems to be from canned food. Hmmm… but not to worry, it still goes well with the NAAN. Definitely filling too!
  • Glazed Beef Brisket Narnie with Slaw—A healthy choice I would say. But, it taste no different from a regular wrap that you can get from anywhere. The only difference is the outer layer is NAAN instead of usual thin wraps.
  • Fish Corquettes with lemon and Aioli: Crispy and creamy filling. The combination of fish fillet and mashed potato makes this finger food to be absolutely unique. Not to forget that egg-like display, totally making full use of the usual unwanted egg casing… That’s just so creative!
  • Brioche French Toast with blueberry and strawberry yoghurt: I did not personally get to taste this dish, but by the looks of it, I am pretty sure everyone is giving it a thumbs up.
  • Chocolate brownie, orange cake and chocolate topped donut: I would say this is just ordinary. Not special. You can just have any other better desserts in another cafe. I guess this cafe is not made for desserts.

 The AMBIANCE
The open big space, with an interior built with a bicycle friendly ramp enhance the whole atmosphere to be cool and hippy. I actually love the whole concept. Also, the idea of making a chalkboard wall for kids to doodle, it’s so brilliant.

The PRICE
I wouldn’t say its near the affordable price. It’s actually pretty pricey for just a small portion of Naan…but if quality is considered, then it’s an alright-not-too-bad price. Make sure you only visit here if you want to eat NARNIE—the only signature dsh of three williams!

The Coastal Walk.— Coogee to Bondi.

FYI and abstracted from: http://bonditocoogeewalk.com.au

The Famous Coastal walk of Sydney.— approx. 5.9km, if you calculate from the map. Yes, we ventured out on this 2 hours of long walk, bracing through the strong winds and sweltering hot sun, just to see the beautiful horizon and cliffs…Worth it!

Oh first, HAPPY EASTER/ GOOD FRIDAY peeps!
In Aussie, this special day is very important, so most of the shops are closed. Thus, only the beach is ‘open’ right? And with the weather forecast being absolutely accurate for once, we decided to go for this coastal walk. Enough of hearing people say how gorgeous and magnificent the views are, I am bringing my pairs of eyes to see them, literally. Thank God for this perfect weather! 🙂
Our Starting Point: Coogee Beach.—- Quiet. Serene. Calm.

We walked along the path to the other side of Coogee beach, which also marks the end of Coogee. So, the next spot is definitely the cliff! The view there is indeed, stunning.
At the cliff… We spent quite a while at this area. We went all cray cray over the whole view. It’s so pretty, I can’t even.

Mandatory tourist shot~ ❤

Oh, we managed to see one of the sweetest and coolest confession ever.

I love this picture so much!
And many other confessions carved on the rocks.

The view from the cliff is so irresistable… MUST TAKE PHOTOS.

As we continue our walk….

We finally reach one part of Clovelly beach!
There lies a row of boats and kids playing with shallow, clear waters of the ocean.

This area— magical and colurful.
As the strong currents and waves hit on the walls of the cliff/rocks… together with the sunlight shining through the prism-like water dropets… you see the formation of rainbow… Countless times~

And yes, and an hour… its Clovelly Beach.– my new love.

It tooks us another 30 minutes to reach Bronte Beach, where we took a rest for awhile. Immersing the Sun rays and Breeze~

Then, followed by Tamarama beach, the smallest beach of all.
About an hour after Clovelly beach, we finally see BONDI! YAY WE MADE IT!
US— sweaty, sticky and thirsty…. and HUNGRY.

Bondi beach— Crowded. Overrated. Popular.

Ending point: Bondi Beach.— my ex-love. Why?

Because after exploring and experiencing all 4 beaches, my favourite is  Clovelly Beach. — the side where the ocean is  equivalent to being a public pool! I’m definitely going to swim in that clear water the next time!

The coastal walk is a great time to relax your mind off your busy life and also a good body-aching workout! Your butt will get firm with all the walking. Trust me. Hehe.

Next mission: Coogee to Marouba!

Peter’s of Kensington—‘Pinkish’ Retail Therapy.

Reason why we decided to give this small cafe a try.— The so-appetizing looking cakes/tarts~ ^^

The interior.
A quarter of Peter’s is occupied by this quaint, little cafe. Besides going ‘GAGA’ over Peter’s, you will be surprised how this cafe is a perfect place for a SATURDATE.

Even though it might seem like a big mess over the ledge (where the sale items were), but the idea of hanging those airplanes and hot air balloons… Splendid. Not only these hot air balloons give the place a dreamy feel, it also reminds me of ‘UP’ the movie…
Using plates, utensils and cook wares as decorations, that is something unusually beautiful as well.

Just look at this Strawberry Tart, doesn’t it make yoour craving/devour mode onz?!

It is too  irresistable so we made a wise choice to have a taste of this marvelous creation. I mean it, MARVELOUS. Of course, a flat white to go along with it. Am a total coffee/tea junkie.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

After having said so much about the cafe itself, just a few preview of what this whole ‘Peter’s of Kensington’ is about. Why I am so ‘cray cray’ over it…

Because they sell literally EVERYTHING! From home supplies to books to toys to beauty products to gifts! Everything for any occasion. Especially if you are a person that loves to bake, you got to visit Peter’s.

For all travel buddies~

So cute and exquisite clocks! Which is your favourite?

Welcoming the Easter Bunny~

The FOOD

  • Strawberry Custard Tart: Two words, Marvelous Creation. I need to emphasize this alot of times because it is! I have no regrets giving it a go. The strawberry coated on top has a little jelly, combined with the soft custard cream and the crispy exterior tart… What can I say? Just buy it! Damn it! 🙂
  • Flat White: No sugar required. Milk and Coffee blended just right.

The PRICE
You pay only $3.50 for a flat white and $8.90 for that big slice of tart! Where can you find such an affordable cafe in Sydney? Rare, I tell you. Rare.

The AMBIANCE
Needless to say, small but comfy. Clustered but homey. Hot air balloon and airplanes for sale.. A mess that brings the whole vibe of the cafe to be dreamy.

FYI: Peter’s is a huge store that sells everything and anything of high quality products that you need and want. Just like a big ass warehouse! Located at Kensington, you can easily spot them as it is the only baby -pink-painted buliding standing  right there.
If you are too lazy to spend about 2hours there, you can always purchase their goods online: http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Default.aspx

Paramount Coffee Project.— Sticky Date with Peanut Butter Waffles.

Named, ‘Paramount Coffee Project’, it gives you the idea that this cafe is probably linked to the film production: Paramount Pictures.

To a certain extent, it is. With it’s logo looking like the mountain and the peak surrounded by stars, and also a wall poster of it, it seems like this cafe is themed according to the well known film production.

The interior of the cafe is huge,– like a wide warehouse. There is an immediate hipster vibe and really high ceilings which I love about.

As you walk further in, they have a ‘pitstop’ for bicycles and a layout of bicycle parts which I think is for sale.

Having a coffee here alone doesn’t seem to be that lonely after all, as you get a choice of a variety of free magazines you can look into.

The FOOD

  • Sweet Peanut Butter Waffle with Caramel Popcorn: Top rated as Sydney’s best waffles, I couldn’t agree more. The first bite was indeed heavenly and sticky! Am not really a fan of peanut butter, but this taste just right. Topped with the ice cream and popcorn, now that is something new. I never knew popcorn and waffles can go so well together. Worth getting fat from this. But if you are person that loves FLUFFY waffles, this might not be the best one for you. Its rather hard, more of crisp kinda waffle.
  • Soft Shell Crab Burger: Have you ever heard that there is this combination of burger?! And the crab, is definitely super soft! This is the best dish among all. If I ever re-visit this cafe, this will be my first choice. Not really a burger person, but this is one special dish that brings signifies this cafe. You don’t usually get to have this kind of burger. The onion ring does not taste like ordinary onion rings. It taste like tempura-style. GREAT! A bite to heaven. Literally.
  • Crabmeat, pickles and toasted sandwhich: I did not really get to try this dish. But according to my friend, its liek a modern japanese combination dish. Unique and a good choice for Brunch.

The PRICE
Maybe it is abit pricey for the portion served, but overall some might think its worth it. After all, is a cafe in Aussie.— you pay for what you want.

The AMBIANCE
Am a sucker for high ceilings, so what can I not love about this cafe?! This cafe gives a feeling of home and comfort. Fine breeze from the open windows just make the whole coffee experience a totaly relax mode onz.

Chur Burgers— Voted one of the Best burgers in Sydney.

#1. Thursday Dinner Club by Urbanest Cleveland Street.
@ Churs Burger

This was a great night to mingle and meet new people and make new friends, which I did! Credits to The Urbanest Team for planning this weekly event. 🙂 Kudos!

What’s more? As a major Foodie myself, It was an additional bonus for me to be able to discover the existence of this new place for dining.

So,  as the name of the place speaks itself, this is non other than a BURGER cafeteria. What do they serve? Burgers! Duhh. But also some sides to go along with it– French Fries were Terrific!

THE FOOD

  • Beef with Cheese Burger- For this particular burger, it wasn’t as fantastic that I expected it to be. The beef was quite a disappointment as it ain’t that juicy. But, Thumbs up to the cheesy on top, it feels like a lava practically flowing in your tongue down your throat. Well, I only had one burger so it  is not really fair for me to just critique the overall food quality over here. Maybe I’ll give the pork burger a try the next time round, it looks Fab! After all, it is still voted one of the best burger place in Sydney! There’s got to be something that is orgasmic!
  • Sides- I did not get a chance to take pictures of the side dishes but I had a good try on their French Fries and Sweet Potato Fries? It was Terrific!!! Hot and Crispy— taste just absolutely perfect.

THE PRICE
Average. $10 for a burger that is probably the size of your hand? It would be more comparable to a man’s hand size tho. Pretty Big I would say? Sides were at $5 each. So yea, average.

THE AMBIANCE
Hmmmm… not too nice for a place to hangout for long tho. The space was limited and compac. The place was so packed and crowded that you could hardly hear the person you are talking to. Maybe it is more suitable for– eating a burger and just get out of here.

Looking Forward to next week’s dinner club? Where do you think we are going?

In the Heart of Newtown— Black Star Pastry.

Fancy a watermelon cake? Or a strawberry cake? Can’t make up your mind? How about both? Sounds weird/odd?
Fret not! It’s a Perfect combination!

Braving through the hot weather and crowds, we made our way to Black Star Pastry, to give it a try. We’ve heard about this famous watermelon cake and got curious over it. True enough, indeed, it was a marvelous experience.

Black Star Pastry, located in the heart of Newtown is one of the main local tourist spot. —Mandatory.

Long benches and wooden stools are provided outdoors, or you prefer pillows on your buttocks, you can choose to sit inside. However, seats are limited because give the space inside, it is limited as well.

Just look at the amount of awards and recognition they had gotten!

Have a look at the inside, it is just a small bakery/ cafe. Even thought it is miniature in size, but the queue they received daily, beats almost everywhere!

The flowers on top are not just for display, they are edible.— Now, that’s definitely their specialty.

It is a great place to just rest those tired feets. 🙂

Their signature— Strawberry and watermelon cake.

Have a closer look, you will notice that there is a layer or ‘red’.—- That’s the water melon, sliced and frozen, stacked in between cream and chopped oatmeal.  Sound good?
