21st Polka Dots and Stripes Party: Just Black, Blue and Pink Please~

In exactly one week’s time.—– Dawn’s 21st; second party of the year.

Date: Saturday, 11 January 2014
Theme: Polka Dots and Stripes
Dress Code: What’s stated above and just in black, blue or pink
Venue: Pasir Ris Aloha Loyang, Bungalow 9

Just about a fortnight before the actual party day….
The making of the backdrop.— this is very important to me.
Spent almost half a day cutting and pasting these circles up into a realistic curtain-like back drop and also, painting and writing those ’21s’ and ‘dawn’ on each of it.

Sacrificing almost all my time of the day, I did it. Not that I did this backdrop, but the fact that I did my part as a best friend to make the event venue absolutely to the THEME. ^^ As much as it was time consuming, I enjoy putting up all these little artpieces of mine up (especially for such birthday events).

Well, if your notice, my role/ job during Dawn’s party was pretty much similar to that of Hweemay’s. Make up & Decorations…. That’s what I am good at!

Aloha Loyang, one of the most common chalet in Singapore that one would open a party at. However, Dawn’s BUNGALOW 9— it’s my virgin moment there. It is a HUGE-ASS place!

The Exterior- gorgeously decorated with the helium balloons.

The Interior.

#FLASHBACK>>>>Hweemay’s Party: BRILLIANT Idea of outdoor LED lightings.

Dawn’s? Super COOL and INNOVATIVE of outdoor tent-age! Like Literally, out at the backyard/ BBQ area.

A wide spread of home cooked food by her mum! Well, no Dessert table this time.

So-called ‘MODEL’ pose with the birthday girl.

And, goofing around with the other two members of SUPERCUTIES.

Cake-cutting time.– the most important moment of the whole event.

What’s the most memorable part of this special day?
I’m not embarrassed (LOL!) but to admit to the fact that I fell down twice on this day. I  was clumsy and ridiculous. Trust me.

Scenario 1:
I was having a great time catching up with my Awesome clique of guys (the image above). My butt was on a chair while I was laughing so hard over the most embarrassing and stupidest joke ever in my life. So hard that my stomach hurts, so hard that my eyes start to tear and lastly, so hard that I fell backwards of the chair and tumbled/ flip over like a somersault on the hard grounds of pebbles.

Scenario 2:
Because I just had the thought of wanting to talk to Jason at the BBQ pit and the night was dark. After conversing for almost three sentences, nature calls. Thus, I did a 180 degrees turn, lift my left foot up, followed by my right foot, where it lands no where but an endless ground (it felt endless at that point of time)—– a HIDDEN DRAIN. Yes, I fell into a drain!

Embarrassing much? But, I am not afraid to share it, because it is this mishap that makes the occasion worth remembering. ^^

21st ‘MEOW’ Party: It’s a Black and Yellow Affair!

nhmay’s 21st party— the first one in 2014

Babies of year 1993, Heads up!
It’s finally our turn to hit the age of 21—- key to freedom.
Yes, we are officially an adult now. No more messing and fooling around. Time for big decisions— such as degree, career, bf/gf, engagement, marriage….. All our life decisions are piling up one by one. Burden. :/

This year as everyone is getting excited to attend 21st parties (also broke at the same time), I do not have such luxury as I am currently moving on to my next phase of life—- pursuing degree in University of Sydney.
Hence, I am quite pleased that I still get to attend two members of my Supercuties parties, and even be part of their party host/ event decorator (mostly handmade)/ make up artist.

For the first 21st birthday party I had attended: HWEEMAY KAYE’S

Date: Saturday, 4 January 2014
Theme: Black and yellow Kitties
Dress Code: Black (Birthday girl: Yellow, Host: Black or yellow or both)
Venue: NSRCC, Tanah Merah

Preparations had to be done before the day of the event. Decorations were done two weeks before.

As mentioned, I am so proud to make my girlfriend into THE PRETTIEST LADY and also THE HIGHLIGHT of the day.

The exterior of her party is the most BRILLIANT IDEA among all decorations.—- LED lights with hanging written cards.

Certainly, it was a night to remember.
We had lots of fun and it was a great start of the year.
The party was pretty much a success! *claps*

Next up, Dawn’s Polka dots and Stripes Party…. 🙂

CUPS N CANVAS—– Appreciating Arts at a different angle.

Omega Fatty Acids, that’s an essential.— c.Faith
Last seen at a cafe: Nov 2013
It has been quite awhile since I last visited a cafe. (Even tho I still have a long list of it to complete. LOL!)
CUPS AND CANVAS, the idea of having a cup of tea of coffee  in an atmosphere of appreciating arts. This can be seen when you first step into the cafe as it is decorated with canvas everywhere. The creativity of different paintings through minds and hands that had put together marvelous pieces of art just hanging around. —- the original thoughts of c.Faith.
ART- the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.— Google definition
My presence in the cafe that day (actually, its yesterday), was to celebrate my dear, Dawn’s 21st birthday.
A piece of her favourite cake— oreo cheesecake

  • Smoked Salmon Sandwich— healthy, no fat meal. Best for those on diet and still want to eat. There isn’t anything fatty or unhealthy because its mainly tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce with a thin layer of smoked salmon. Think Subway.
  • Blanc Bacon— Super creamy! The taste is thick. Delicious, but best to share.
  • Vermillion Prawn—- Norm tomato based pasta.
  • Olive Room—- Did not get to try this, but if you are a aglio olio fan, you might just fall in love with it
  • Potato Wedges with Cheese— Apparently, this is the signature side dish of Cups N Canvas. To be honest, I feel that it tasted just like all other potato wedges. Nothing special at all.
  • Oreo Cheesecake— The outer layer of the cheesecake is slightly crisp. It’s pretty obvious that it was baked a little to give it such a texture. Sweetness level just alright. I love it!

NO GST AND SERVICE CHARGE! This is the best part. Their prices are all NETT. I like. I really really like. You pay for whatever that is stated in the menu. This is good. No hidden charges. (Y) The price ranges from $10 onwards, but definitely less than $20 for a main, such as pasta. Norm Price.

  • I’m an artsy person. I love canvas. Be it painted, or photo printed, I just love canvas. Being able to be situated at this pleasant surrounding of craftsmanship, it’s indeed perfect.
Verdict: This cafe is good for people that want a quiet place to study, to have coffee with your girlfriends and desserts while resting those exhausted feet after a long day of shopping.
Words from Cups N Canvas:

Welcome to “Cups N Canvas”, a humble art space that celebrates the peculiar friendship between art, food and coffee. Do drop by, be merry, you can always have a cup, a canvas, or both at our place.

On Another Island: Privé Café. Bakery.

A glimpse of the fine, night lights and swaying yachts on the peaceful sea.

Located on another island, Keppel bay island. There, lies a hidden gem by the name of Privé.
Surrounded by nothing else except the nature reserve and cool breeze from the sea, such ambiance is only best described as B.L.I.S.S.

I chose to dine here for the Birthday Boy because its located on this fine, private island.

  • Spicy Sausage Ragu Spaghetti— Arrabbiata sauced with three chillis, it is indeed spicy. I love the texture of the spaghetti, cooked just nice, QQ that is.
  • Club Sandwich– the sandwich that is most worthy to be in your stomach! There, this is good enough to express

For such ambiance and good food, I don’t mind paying the twenties. Well, typically, you are paying for the ambiance then the food. This is a private island, how much cheaper do you expect?!  GEEZ

  • Love how it is situated at a private, surreal quiet place, away from the busy crowds and city life,  surrounded by sea water and a magnificent view of yachts and night lights from high rise buildings. Ahhh.. Life at its best moment.

Dessert of the day: Oreo Mudpie, with customised birthday wordings.– another reason why I chose to dine here.

Of course. every dinner have to end off with a photo together.

An additional art piece behind us—the bridge— which makes this place more than just the word ‘lovely’ can describe.
I will definitely revisit here again for their BRUNCH MENU.

S.Phie and Co. go Ita-liano at La Pizzaiola!

11 October 2013, that day when we gather after a long time to celebrate a joyous occasion.— dedicated solely to my dearest Mumsie, Sophie.
An occasion that I had missed out for the past 2 years. :/

Look at her smiling widely as she is happy with our present to her! She can hang her beautiful bridal gown with it!

Its been awhile since I last met these talented, gorgeous babes I have in my life. 🙂 So, Thankful to God~

Two best vocals in the house~

Initial plan of going to Wimbly Lu was scraped off due to the overwhelming queue outside. MADD!
So, we went next door instead, La Pizzaiola— Italian restaurant that has a really funny waiter.

The interior.

After much waiting time, our food is finally served!
You can check out their menu at : http://www.pizzaiola.com.sg/images/Menu2.pdf

Mushroom Fettucine Fusili

Burratina con Prosciutto Crudo

This ‘ball’ is actually a burrata cheese! Not an ice cream. Interesting eh?

It taste heavenly with the ham.

This appetiser is really odd yet interesting. Hence, we have no idea how to eat it except Sophie.

Sophie giving her ‘cooking class’ to us on –how-to-eat-the-parma-ham-salad. LOL !

There! Just roll it all up and put it in your mouth!

If I am not wrong, this is a Napoletana pizza.

Cannelloni con Riccotta e Spinaci.

Risotto ai Funghi Poreini

Their specialty— Pizzoccheri Della Valtellina

As I mentioned above, I had never celebrated Sophie’s birthday.
Hence, I decided to put my heart into baking a customized cake for her with Fondant. (1st attempt with it)

and TA-DA!! *Thumbs up for appearance* 🙂 Birthday girl actually thought that I bought it from a bakery or the restaurant itself. LOL!

Birthday girl smiling with the cake by yours truly! *pats back*DSC01397-001 DSC01398-001 DSC01399-001 DSC01402-001

Group photo to end the happy day!
Nigel and Alex… Seriously -.-

From strangers to dancemates to crewmates to ex-crewmates to FRIENDS FOR ETERNITY.

Yes, even though we don’t:

  • Meet up that often
  • Chill and talk cock as always
  • Train and dance and sing together on that platform where we are all shining stars
  • Grow fat together with supper after dance and many more..

All these doesn’t matter, because we all knows that we are still friends forever. This is how social-networking works and I love how it gives me the chance to meet wonderful people around me.

Just cant help it but to flaunt the inside pink ombre colours of my cake! Success! Phew!
Guess my baking skills improved. Tee-hee ^^

I will share a tutorial of this cake on my next post. OR, you guys can always youtube or google to learn the easy way of whipping your own cake!

‘Great bakes come from anyone that has a heart.’ -Faith

Genuine taste of Italian food. My favourite was the cheese and parma ham. That, you must give it a try!

Average I suppose? The norm price that you pay for restaurant food. It’s pretty worth eating here. But my advice for those that eat alot, is you might not like it here as the food portion is rather small.

Absolutely terrific! I like the wooden furniture and feel of the place, giving it a scent of homey feel. Also, located in a rather secluded area, surrounded by private housings. This place is indeed a gem found within!

La Pizzaiola— Located Next to Wimbly Lu.
