Taste Baguette —— A French love affair.

Hmmmm…. Well, honestly if you want me to give my opinions on the three dishes that I had ordered—- pepperoni pizza, leg ham pizza and linguine, I am not able to give a genuine answer. They taste Norm. However, probably one of the best cafe in Usyd I suppose?

It is probably a little more expensive than usual but still affordable for that big portion offered.

Quaint, Comfortable and soothing. Best place for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Love how they arranged the tables and chairs outside the cafe.  You can totally feel the breeze. Furthermore, I absolutely love their effort in having those pretty plates! You don’t really get to see cafes using such plates, usually they serve white plates instead. I guess this is one unique fact about Taste Baguette.

CUPS N CANVAS—– Appreciating Arts at a different angle.

Omega Fatty Acids, that’s an essential.— c.Faith
Last seen at a cafe: Nov 2013
It has been quite awhile since I last visited a cafe. (Even tho I still have a long list of it to complete. LOL!)
CUPS AND CANVAS, the idea of having a cup of tea of coffee  in an atmosphere of appreciating arts. This can be seen when you first step into the cafe as it is decorated with canvas everywhere. The creativity of different paintings through minds and hands that had put together marvelous pieces of art just hanging around. —- the original thoughts of c.Faith.
ART- the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.— Google definition
My presence in the cafe that day (actually, its yesterday), was to celebrate my dear, Dawn’s 21st birthday.
A piece of her favourite cake— oreo cheesecake

  • Smoked Salmon Sandwich— healthy, no fat meal. Best for those on diet and still want to eat. There isn’t anything fatty or unhealthy because its mainly tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce with a thin layer of smoked salmon. Think Subway.
  • Blanc Bacon— Super creamy! The taste is thick. Delicious, but best to share.
  • Vermillion Prawn—- Norm tomato based pasta.
  • Olive Room—- Did not get to try this, but if you are a aglio olio fan, you might just fall in love with it
  • Potato Wedges with Cheese— Apparently, this is the signature side dish of Cups N Canvas. To be honest, I feel that it tasted just like all other potato wedges. Nothing special at all.
  • Oreo Cheesecake— The outer layer of the cheesecake is slightly crisp. It’s pretty obvious that it was baked a little to give it such a texture. Sweetness level just alright. I love it!

NO GST AND SERVICE CHARGE! This is the best part. Their prices are all NETT. I like. I really really like. You pay for whatever that is stated in the menu. This is good. No hidden charges. (Y) The price ranges from $10 onwards, but definitely less than $20 for a main, such as pasta. Norm Price.

  • I’m an artsy person. I love canvas. Be it painted, or photo printed, I just love canvas. Being able to be situated at this pleasant surrounding of craftsmanship, it’s indeed perfect.
Verdict: This cafe is good for people that want a quiet place to study, to have coffee with your girlfriends and desserts while resting those exhausted feet after a long day of shopping.

Faith’s Food Production: Paddle Pop French Meringue

Meringues- a Swiss and French Cuisine Sweet, often known as ‘Forgotten Cookies’.

Recently, I had attempted a new recipe of baking one of my favourite dessert, Meringue.
As I am planning my 21st birthday cum farewell party next year, I was hoping some of my bakes could be on my dessert bar.

So I thought. Hmm…. Meringues, it is! Easy and fun to bake!
Before my bakes are qualified to be served on the table for more than 50 people, I had to test myself if it is even edible right? Tee-hee.

Fun Fact: Do you know that Meringues are FAT-FREE food?

The ingredients are as follows:

  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cream of tar tar
  • 3/4 cups of castor sugar
  • Food colourings

Just 4 easy steps for making this delightful dessert!

  1. Simply, beat the egg whites in an electric mixer at high speed, until foamy.
  2. Then you can start adding the sugars gradually while beating.
  3. Beat until stiff peaks form.
  4. Bake in a 90 degrees oven for about at least 1 hr and 45 mins. — no kidding. It is easy to make but it’s baking time is a bitch.

The colours and how it looks like is all up to you!

It taste like mini cotton candies that is hard on the outside but soft on the inside. Crispy!
One thing to bear in mind: it melts and become soft very quickly within 30 minutes. — for this flaw, I will research and try again.

For the first time of meringue-baking, I give myself a pat on the back. 🙂

S.Phie and Co. go Ita-liano at La Pizzaiola!

11 October 2013, that day when we gather after a long time to celebrate a joyous occasion.— dedicated solely to my dearest Mumsie, Sophie.
An occasion that I had missed out for the past 2 years. :/

Look at her smiling widely as she is happy with our present to her! She can hang her beautiful bridal gown with it!

Two best vocals in the house~

Initial plan of going to Wimbly Lu was scraped off due to the overwhelming queue outside. MADD!
So, we went next door instead, La Pizzaiola— Italian restaurant that has a really funny waiter.

The interior.

After much waiting time, our food is finally served!
You can check out their menu at : http://www.pizzaiola.com.sg/images/Menu2.pdf

Mushroom Fettucine Fusili

Burratina con Prosciutto Crudo

This ‘ball’ is actually a burrata cheese! Not an ice cream. Interesting eh?

It taste heavenly with the ham.

This appetiser is really odd yet interesting. Hence, we have no idea how to eat it except Sophie.

Sophie giving her ‘cooking class’ to us on –how-to-eat-the-parma-ham-salad. LOL !

Cannelloni con Riccotta e Spinaci.

Risotto ai Funghi Poreini

Their specialty— Pizzoccheri Della Valtellina

As I mentioned above, I had never celebrated Sophie’s birthday.
Hence, I decided to put my heart into baking a customized cake for her with Fondant. (1st attempt with it)

and TA-DA!! *Thumbs up for appearance* 🙂 Birthday girl actually thought that I bought it from a bakery or the restaurant itself. LOL!

Nigel and Alex… Seriously -.-

From strangers to dancemates to crewmates to ex-crewmates to FRIENDS FOR ETERNITY.

Yes, even though we don’t:

  • Meet up that often
  • Chill and talk cock as always
  • Train and dance and sing together on that platform where we are all shining stars
  • Grow fat together with supper after dance and many more..

All these doesn’t matter, because we all knows that we are still friends forever. This is how social-networking works and I love how it gives me the chance to meet wonderful people around me.

Just cant help it but to flaunt the inside pink ombre colours of my cake! Success! Phew!
Guess my baking skills improved. Tee-hee ^^

I will share a tutorial of this cake on my next post. OR, you guys can always youtube or google to learn the easy way of whipping your own cake!

Genuine taste of Italian food. My favourite was the cheese and parma ham. That, you must give it a try!

Average I suppose? The norm price that you pay for restaurant food. It’s pretty worth eating here. But my advice for those that eat alot, is you might not like it here as the food portion is rather small.

Absolutely terrific! I like the wooden furniture and feel of the place, giving it a scent of homey feel. Also, located in a rather secluded area, surrounded by private housings. This place is indeed a gem found within!

La Pizzaiola— Located Next to Wimbly Lu.
