The Bravery— Aroma Therapy from a Lavender Latte.

This ‘unknown’ cafe is probably one of the hits in Singapore now.

FLASHBACK: Visited the Bravery on CNY day 3. My lovely cousin from Hongkong came to visit us again and this time, we just had to bring her around to see and have a taste of what Singapore really has to offer!

So, my sister, being a super FOODIE herself, brought us to this cafe—The Bravery.

Honestly, from the exterior, there is no way this is a cafe. It just looks like an old building standing alone, preparing to be demolished.
as I make my way in, the interior design was also categorized as ‘dodgy-looking’.— No ambience nor any sorts of nice displays at all. Just a counter and tables and chairs. That’s it.

The usual statement: “Do not judge a book by its cover.”— this statement is totally made for this cafe.

I swear Salmon is one of God’s best creation. ❤

  • Lavender Latte- Their Significant piece, which is also my favourite ‘dish’ of all. The aroma from the latte was marvelous. LOVE@FIRSTSIP.
  • Smoked Salmon with Poached Egg and Toast- Excellent choice of wholemeal grain baguette! The eggs were cooked just right– ozzing egg yolks, topped with smoked salmon. Man, I am in food heaven.
  • Banana and crumbles Pancakes- Tiny it may seem, but this is indeed filling! Sharing would be a wiser choice if this is ordered. I love the maple syrup and the dough of the pancake was perfect!

Nothing much to comment, you pay for what you eat. Quality of food, all depends on the cost isn’t it?

As mentioned, Sh*ty! But it is not a big issue as long as the food is good!! Agree?

Chur Burgers— Voted one of the Best burgers in Sydney.

#1. Thursday Dinner Club by Urbanest Cleveland Street.
@ Churs Burger

This was a great night to mingle and meet new people and make new friends, which I did! Credits to The Urbanest Team for planning this weekly event. 🙂 Kudos!

What’s more? As a major Foodie myself, It was an additional bonus for me to be able to discover the existence of this new place for dining.

So,  as the name of the place speaks itself, this is non other than a BURGER cafeteria. What do they serve? Burgers! Duhh. But also some sides to go along with it– French Fries were Terrific!

  • Beef with Cheese Burger- For this particular burger, it wasn’t as fantastic that I expected it to be. The beef was quite a disappointment as it ain’t that juicy. But, Thumbs up to the cheesy on top, it feels like a lava practically flowing in your tongue down your throat. Well, I only had one burger so it  is not really fair for me to just critique the overall food quality over here. Maybe I’ll give the pork burger a try the next time round, it looks Fab! After all, it is still voted one of the best burger place in Sydney! There’s got to be something that is orgasmic!
  • Sides- I did not get a chance to take pictures of the side dishes but I had a good try on their French Fries and Sweet Potato Fries? It was Terrific!!! Hot and Crispy— taste just absolutely perfect.

Average. $10 for a burger that is probably the size of your hand? It would be more comparable to a man’s hand size tho. Pretty Big I would say? Sides were at $5 each. So yea, average.

Hmmmm… not too nice for a place to hangout for long tho. The space was limited and compac. The place was so packed and crowded that you could hardly hear the person you are talking to. Maybe it is more suitable for– eating a burger and just get out of here.

In the Heart of Newtown— Black Star Pastry.

Fancy a watermelon cake? Or a strawberry cake? Can’t make up your mind? How about both? Sounds weird/odd?
Fret not! It’s a Perfect combination!

Braving through the hot weather and crowds, we made our way to Black Star Pastry, to give it a try. We’ve heard about this famous watermelon cake and got curious over it. True enough, indeed, it was a marvelous experience.

Black Star Pastry, located in the heart of Newtown is one of the main local tourist spot. —Mandatory.

Long benches and wooden stools are provided outdoors, or you prefer pillows on your buttocks, you can choose to sit inside. However, seats are limited because give the space inside, it is limited as well.

Just look at the amount of awards and recognition they had gotten!

Have a look at the inside, it is just a small bakery/ cafe. Even thought it is miniature in size, but the queue they received daily, beats almost everywhere!

The flowers on top are not just for display, they are edible.— Now, that’s definitely their specialty.

It is a great place to just rest those tired feets. 🙂

Their signature— Strawberry and watermelon cake.

Have a closer look, you will notice that there is a layer or ‘red’.—- That’s the water melon, sliced and frozen, stacked in between cream and chopped oatmeal.  Sound good?

2042 CAFE and DELI — Unique Cafe Concept.

Introducing: 2042, Cafe and Deli.  Named after the postal code of Newtown, it makes it so much easier to locate them on google map!

This was my second time visiting this cafe, because their all-day breakfast were so addictive that I can’t even resist!
I just had to bring myself and my friends here to experience the ‘semi-alfresco’ concept of the cafe.

When you first enter, the space is so wide that it feels empty. Like a cafe that could only be flooded with houseflies or mozzies…. Do not be deceived by its outlook!

Unique Cafe Concept.– Why?

For many cafes that I had went in Singapore, usually they are under one roof, air conditioned because of the crazy/ blazing hot weather. However, many cafes in Sydney is different, they embrace the sun. In fact, they Love It! Sun bathing is prolly one of their favourite hobbies~

2042, utilise as an OPEN AIR concept cafe. No air conditioner. You can choose to be seated indoors or outdoors. Totally based on personal preferences.

And what’s appealing is their wide selection of different seats available. When I meant different, it is literally different.—- Wooden Chairs, to Pillow Seats, to Sofa Seats…

Their wall decorations were indeed fascinating, whereby many funny words are used and framed. They even have ‘world map’ kind of canvas. Vintage and Classic… mmmm… that’s my kind. Me like!

For instance, I could not get my eyes off this part of the cafe. As much as it is just the kitchen, but there is white-brownish shelves set up and nicely decorated.

A desk that is filled with tourists’ brochures, updates of Sydney Events and even donation drive. Aww,,, Ain’t they sweet?

Seated neatly on the stacks of shelves were Honey, Jams and etc. They sell these spreads along side as a cafe itself.

Honey, can I buy you home? ^^

Comfy Sofa seats available to suit your mood of the day. Relax much?

  • Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon—I must say that in my whole life, this is the #1 Eggs Benedict I ever had! The two poached eggs were perfectly heated whereby, the egg yolk oozes out when you slice it. Topped with the special creamy, cheese sauce, it makes the usual Eggs Benedict, seem like it is no longer just an ordinary Eggs Benedict!  Besides smoked salmon, you can state your preference for other sides as well.
  • Turkey bacon Wrap— After having it for once, I re-visted this cafe for twice! It was so good! The dough that wraps it was so intact! Meaning to say, the usual messy wraps that when you slice it and all the insides will just splatter all over, it does not apply to this particular wrap. In fact, it stays the way it is and you can slowly savour the BBQ sauce and turkey bacon along with the wrap. Seriously, it taste so heavenly.

Jaw-dropping price!! For such a big-fat portion of eggs benedict ($14.50) and Turkey bacon wrap ($10), it is hard to find in Singapore or probably other cafes. Super Affordable. (Y) Trust me, you can even share your wrap with a friend and you will still feel full!

Super friendly staffs that stirs up the Bubbly mood and atmosphere! Did I not mention that they grind peppers on your food right in front of you?! That’s indeed good customer service. Open air concept makes the whole cafe much more refreshing and captivating. In addition, I really love their SEATS~

121 days in Sydney— Sydney Fish Market; Fresh Seafood and Annoying Seagulls.

At present, I am back in this unfamiliar city. No longer do I feel that I am a 100% tourist.

FLASHBACK: Two years ago, I was here at Sydney Fish Market.
There, I stood under the pouring dark clouds with an umbrella, smiling and snapping the mandatory tourist shot.

And I was here, with my girlfriend, Jessilyn Tan. She’s way better at navigating than me. >.<

The Exterior

As we enter the fish market, we were appalled by the arrangement of the fish market. Unexpectedly, it was a clean and dry market whereby there is no signs of ‘wet’ in their environment.
It is arranged in a Retailer manner.

A warm welcome by all the fresh seafoods: fishes, sashimi, Lobsters, crabs, oysters….. *Drools*

This, so-called ‘fish market’ turns out to be a large tourist eatery instead.

IMG_8680 IMG_8682

A wide selection of seafood to choose from! Even if you are a fussy/ picky eater, this place will certainly satisfy your cravings.

IMG_8683 IMG_8686 IMG_8687 IMG_8688

There are cold and hot platters to choose from and also, the retailers available area variety.
We decided to eat at ‘PETER’s’ because they offer a wide range of seafood/ sashimis and prices were pretty affordable.
Eg. You can eat like 100g of salmon sashimi at only $7?! 100g, is alot.

Want to get your hands on these fresh seafood? Then you better visit the SYDNEY FISH MARKET.
And the best part, you won’t get FAT easily with seafood because they provides (example: Salmon) omega 3 fatty acids which are really good for health!
