‘To have Food, it is a Blessing.’ – said by a Foodie.

While many girls fear to eat much, I am different from them. I eat what I like, what I want, what I crave. Yes, Fat die me. Whatever.

Girls spent too much time looking at the mirror, worrying too much about their own figure and shape. This is no doubt caused by the harsh society that being skinny is seen as GORGEOUS, HOT, SEXY, PRETTY… and the lists goes on.

Some lucky girls are out there are blessed with a petite body size. –these people will never get fat no matter how much they consume.

Well, I just have to suck it up and work out. I am not lucky enough to be born puny.

Therefore, instead of becoming bongus and starving myself or forcing myself to vomit, I would rather work my ass off to keep fit than to resist myself from all the delicious temptations out there waiting for me to give them a taste. I don’t have to be extra skinny like how most models are.

Average, is fine enough.  ‘BEAUTY IS SKIN DEEP.’

Anyway, this post ain’t about an arguement of being skinny or fat. It is about me Cafe Hopping recently. And I had to introduce to people who love food to not give these  miss!

So, recently I had done some food hunting.

#1. BANGKOK JAM

IMG_8551

To give this restaurant a try, it was rather impromptu. Our initial plan was to eat Japanese and to spent away my previous vouchers while it is still valid. Unfortunately, it closed down in IONorchard. Like, what?!

So, we had to source for other eateries that I can use the vouchers on and also to consider the fact that we were at town. The nearest place was Bangkok Jam. We don’t really have a choice but to eat there, I suppose.

IMG_8545It was a pretty distinct restaurant with pleasant interior design and ambience. The first thing we heard when we entered was kpop music. It was blasting at a high volume. Funny thing is, isn’t this a thai restaurant? Why the korea music?

But I like how they decorate the place like a hippie area, more for the young punks feel.

IMG_8558

Okay, we were led to our seats in no time.

IMG_8542

A two paged cardboard menu.

IMG_8556

Thai milktea, it was too sweet for me tho. IMG_8550

See how the walls are made of brick-designs? Now, that i classic.

We did not order much food. In fact, is only three dishes, which includes dessert as well.

IMG_8553

-Glass noodle wrap. This is a cold dish. Taste like popiah but its the sauce that makes it superb. IMG_8554

IMG_8555

IMG_8557

Jason was obviously enjoying it.

IMG_8559

– Then we had stuffed chicken wings.

IMG_8560

The stuffed chicken is damn good. I like how there is no bones inside, saves hassle of biting and spitting bones. Also, the skin was so damn crispy!

IMG_8561

There is noodles inside! Cool shit.

We ended with a last dish, non other than DESSERT.

IMG_8562

Caramelised Fried banana with ice cream.

IMG_8563

This was HEAVENLY and SINFUL at the same time. Best fried bananas I had ever tasted. Maybe just cut down abit on the flour, it will be perfect.

#2. WIMBLY LU

IMG-20130818-WA0000

On a Peaceful Sunday Night.

To end that horrible week, my sis suggested to try Wimbly Lu. The location is quite inaccessible unless you have a car to drive in. But apparently, deserted it may sound, it is actually located beside the fat cat.

IMG-20130818-WA0015

Wimbly Lu is known for its wide range of dessert, especially chocolate truffles.

IMG-20130818-WA0003

Oh outside of this cafe has a ‘turtle’ car parked right at its doorstep. This is it’s signature outlook, I suppose. I wonder if anyone does drive it away…

IMG-20130818-WA0001

The first thing that was noticed were the cotton-wool handmade ‘clouds’. Said by my sister, they are building an environment and atmosphere that has a ‘whimsical’ feeling. True enough, I did feel like I had stepped into LaLa Land.

IMG-20130818-WA0006

The lightings are decorated exquisitely and the ‘clouds’ just enhance the cafe. It was as if I had stepped into a fairy world.

IMG-20130818-WA0008

Oh and they cater to takeaways. So this leads us to the food. Great ambience, but how about the food?

IMG-20130818-WA0010

Two main and three desserts.

Mains:

– Cheesy toast sandwich

  • This was a disappointment. It is just a toasted sandwich. Hello? I can totally whip it up myself from my own kitchen.

– Lagsana

  • It is a little too sweet but still satisfying. I would say that I will come back for it. I like how they make the cheese crumbles on top of it.

As mentioned , this is a dessert cafe hence, dont be too surprise when you see the menu that the mains provided were only about 5 choices.

Desserts:

-Waffle with ice cream

  • This is the HIGHLIGHT! It is so darn FLUFFY. It is so FLUFFY that I am going to die! Topped with honey cinnamon ice cream creates a much more subtle taste! This is definitely the SEXXX! Must try before you are die.

-Molten Lava Cake

  • Indeed, the chocolate melts sinfully in your mouth. Just like a taste in heaven. However, recommended to share with more friends as it may just end up being too chocolatey.

-Lemon Meringue Pie

  • Its either you hate it or you love it. For me, I absolutely love it, but I would say that it is not the best in town. Search for better meringue pie!

Wimbly Lu will make a better choice for Sunday Brunch. 🙂

#3. BATTER FLUFFY FLAPS (BFF)

)IMG-20130819-WA0022

‘Where all BFFs should hang out here for a good load of pancakes..’

IMG-20130819-WA0024

Greeted by all these cute car plates, I can’t wait to step inside and check it out!

IMG-20130819-WA0025

The interior-

IMG-20130819-WA0015

IMG-20130819-WA0005

IMG-20130819-WA0019

I would say that the interior design is lovely and certainly cute.  I looks fun to dine in. The concept of ‘being fluffy’ is within the shop as the owner is smart enough to use a sheep as their ambassador.

IMG-20130819-WA0010

Tongue twisting quotes! How KAWAII!

IMG-20130819-WA0026

Everything is literally cute here. It is like cuteness overload!!

IMG-20130819-WA0008

Definitely have to snap a picture with the FLUFFYGUY!

IMG-20130819-WA0014

IMG-20130819-WA0006

IMG-20130819-WA0012

The pancakes:

IMG-20130819-WA0031

Maxine’s create your own pancakes. This is more of a dessert platter instead.

IMG-20130819-WA0032

Shermund’s Beef patty pancake. -Savoury pancake burger!

IMG-20130819-WA0033

MY Breakfast Combo- youcanchoosehowyouwanttheeggtobedone.

IMG-20130819-WA0034

Jason’s DESSERT pancake. Topped with kokocrunch and kit kat.

I had always wanted to try batter fluffy flaps. Its cute concept led the cafe feel so comfy.

And yes, the FLAPS ARE REALLY HELL FLUFFY!!!!!

Yet another mysterious, hidden cafe HOPPED! #accomplishment.

GIRLS/LADIES, remember only GOD can judge you. JUST EAT AND QUIT STARVING. #YOLO

Till my next discovery…

Summer HotSPOT: Gold Coast, Australia

Surfers Paradise

‘ At the beach, time you wasting is not wasted’ – t.s. elliot

The trip to Gold Coast just happened last year in the beginning of October. In fact, to be exact, it was 30 Sept 2012 that we took the flight.

It was a rather impromptu trip. As many may already know, I traveled to Sydney, Australia to commence my internship. Apparently, labor day in Australia is 1 October in stead of the usual 1 May in Singapore. Hence, we asked for a short break from our professor, and surprisingly, he was super cool about it.

But why gold coast? Because I am dying to go to MOVIE WORLD! #Childhooddreams Besides, I am in Sydney. It’s just a few miles away! So, why not?

Airline: Jetstar Airways

Accommodation: Hotel Grand Chancellor -courtesy of my cousin’s recommendation

Duration: 3 Days 2 Night

#Day 1: Life’s a beach.  – Surfers paradise

IMG_3155Here, Chasing the sun .

Here, Chasing the sun .

On a early dark morning, just before sun rise, we took a cab to the Domestic airport. Our flight was about 6am.

IMG_3158IMG_3157

Touched down at Gold Coast. Feeling Fresh!

IMG_3163

We took an airport transfer to Hotel Grand Chancellor. It was located at spotlight of Gold coast where every shops were just below the hotel and Surfers’ paradise is just a 5min walk away!

IMG_7740

Twin beds and ensuite bathroom, along with a small balcony.IMG_7743 IMG_7744 IMG_7748

The view from our balcony… Just the ocean line right ahead!

As it was still way too early to hit the beach, and also considering the fact that the Sun wasn’t right up yet, we took the public transport to CARRARA MARKETS –one of the main tourists attractions, with bargained products and local delights!

The market was huge, literally. Massive indeed. Hell lots of people.

IMG_7711

Lots of goodies and bargains to purchase!

Colour chrome maxi dresses

IMG_7715 IMG_7719 IMG_7720

And lots of varieties too!IMG_7725

This wired bicycle is just too beautiful~ ^^

Interesting toilet concept.

Interesting toilet concept.

People actually buy this guy?
People actually buy this guy?

CARRARA MARKETS practically sells all sorts of rubbish, classic, vintage goodies that you want to find! Pets are even for sale! Just look at this guy (image above)^

We spent our morning at the market. In the afternoon, it is time to hit the beach!

IMG_7761

The legendary, SURFERS’ PARADISE.

I can’t believe  I had finally stepped on the sands of this beach, leaving behind those footprints. GAWD! It had always been a dream. Fancy seeing it only on TV.. but now, my feet are on it. Bliss is sand in between my toes and sunburn on my nose.

IMG_7772

Thank God for the awesome weather that allowed us to be able to bath ourselves under the sun!

IMG_7817

We were definitely enjoying ourselves by the beach. With the great ocean/ sea view… nothing else matters. #life

IMG_7812

Bikinis on top! Beach, the only place that bikinis are not seen as sleazy. #whatever

Marked!
Marked!

Just like the O’ days, writing on the sand with a random stick, we had to remember this exact day!

IMG_7832

I just love the sea!

IMG_7833

I went to dip myself into the clear water of the sea. The currents are merciless, literally gushing and throwing themselves at me. Fortunately, I didn’t drown. *touchwood*  But instead, I was ‘freezed’ by the water! COLDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We played till 4pm sharp, just before the sun set.

Bathed, and went food hunting after.

Then, we came across this small taiwan restaurant. The resistant towards our temptations were not strong enough. So, we dined and just enjoy the good food provided! ^^

IMG_7845 IMG_7846

“Palm trees, ocean breeze, salty air, sun kissed hair. That endless summer take me there.”

#Day 2: Sea World, Dolphins!

Rise and shine from Gold coast!

Sea world was in our itentiary as we had purchased the GOLD VIP tickets! Priced at only AUD99.99, we are entitled to free unlimited entry to three worlds! Instead of the usual ticket priced at AUD89.99 for only one world. We were lucky to be able to get this great deal!

IMG_3269

We were all set for SEA world, and our first show was the dolphin show! I’ll move on to the show in the later part of the post.

IMG_3276

SPONGEBOB POPCORN CUP!!

IMG_3309

RAINBOW ICE CREAM WITH A LIL GUMMY FISHIE ON TOP!

IMG_7849

PHOTOSHOOT WITH SPONGEBOB, PATRICK AND MRS PUFF!!  They are so cute!

IMG_7859

IMG_7872

Oh, look! Its Dora the explorer!!!

IMG_7867

IMG_7874

IMG_7875

Giant Penguin!!! It’s so fluffy that I think I am going to die!!

IMG_7879

So, we had reached the setting where the dolphin show is held.

IMG_7887

IMG_7901

These dolphins are super well trained! Smart and cute!!

Look at how amazing they can do the stunts, flipping 360 degrees in mid air.

IMG_7909

IMG_7911

IMG_7928

Oh oh and see how they queue up accordingly!

IMG_7930

Man, how I wish I was in his shoes then!

IMG_7931

Aww…just look at how it smiles with its tiny little teeth!

IMG_7932

After the spectacular Dolphin show,  our adventure at the sea world continues…

IMG_7934

IMG_7939

Castaway Bay, built with full loads of challenging climbs through strings and rods.

IMG_7945

IMG_7949

Actually, it seems like a rather huge playground instead. You know the ones that kids play the explorer kids? LOL!

IMG_7951

IMG_7952

IMG_7956

Indeed challenging, but we managed to make our way up and enjoy the magnificent view from the tippy top!

IMG_7957

IMG_7963

IMG_7964

The slope back down, but of course a picture had to be taken to show that, ‘WE MADE IT!”

IMG_7969

IMG_7973

IMG_7974

The next show we caught was non other than the famous, popular, world known, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!

IMG_7989

IMG_7994

Here comes the main leads- Spongebob and Patrick! Say, ‘HI!’

IMG_7999

IMG_8007

IMG_8020

And of course subsequent characters from the show- Mrs. Puff

IMG_8022

-Mr. Crab

IMG_8023

-Squidward

IMG_8032

-Tiny Plankton

IMG_8046

The sing and dance items were so lively! And Cute, for sure. Looking at them move just certainly made me feel like a child again.

This is why I love themed parks, all you do is PLAY AND HAVE FUN. AGE DOESN’T SEEM LIKE A WORD FOR A MOMENT.

IMG_8049

-Sandy

At Sea world, not only do you get to associate with sea creatures, but also PENGUINS!

IMG_8094

Just look at these huge amount of penguins, the north pole kinds. And trust me, they were literally just staring at you. Not even a single movement. Probably wondering,  why the heck are we so amazed by them?

IMG_8095

Moving on, at the centre of Sea world lies a mini Dinosaur island.

IMG_8102

It’s just a small pathway to see artificial dinosaurs and nothing else. Boring!

Well, as much as it seems like Sea World is built for the kids, I did manage to get on some rides that were deemed as much more ‘adult level’.

IMG_8129

IMG_8133

IMG_8135

IMG_8137

IMG_8144

IMG_8145

I had to ride alone as Jess was afraid. Boring it may sound, but at least I get the express lane! 😀

Apart from the ‘LIVE’ spongebob show, there is a 3D version! So, yes, we went to catch it. It was great! Totally comparable to the one in Hongkong Disneyland. Same concept, just different cartoon.

IMG_8147

IMG_8157

And here is Patricia, along with her two beautiful daughters. 🙂

The last animal that we saw was the big, white, fluffy polar bear!

It was so darn cute!

IMG_8268

Its giving the satisfied, relaxed face!

IMG_8287

And seriously, it cant stop swimming. We actually watched it swim repeatedly, back and forth for up to 50 laps!

IMG_8328

Lastly, to end the day, we did some souvenir shopping before catching the last Jet Ski Stunt show.

IMG_7858

We, too, are SPONGEBOB FANS! ARE YOU?

#Day 3: Movie world!

IMG_8466

Today, we are all SUPERHEROES.

IMG_8345

I was at MOVIEWORLD! *SCREAMSSSSS* I had conquered one of my childhood dreams. Not to forget, those thrilling rides that I get to sit and experience on!

The highlights of this themed park were the madd, crazy and thrilling rides that can literally make you scream your lungs out.

1. Green Lantern, one of the newest rides among all.

IMG_8353

IMG_3329

2. Superman ride– the #1 best roller coaster ride among all! -well, for me that is.

That highest point, where you can see the whole of movie world, and the next thing you realise, is your heart dropping out. This moment is what makes roller coasters, a REAL roller coaster.

IMG_3333

3. Batman High rise fall– do not under estimate this ride.

Which, in fact, I did. And thus, led me to the LOUDEST SCREAM I EVER DID.

IMG_3340

IMG_8354

4.  Arkham Asylam– another roller coaster that is super twisted.

It practically turns 360 degrees throughout the whole ride. Just be prepared to lose your voice. Indeed.

IMG_8385

IMG_8398

IMG_8390

Like all typical procedures of coming to a theme park, you get on all the rides as soon as you to save time and the rest of the hours is phototaking with your favourite characters! In addition to some shows along the way.

 IMG_3339

Meet Batman- the one with the husky voice all the time. Can’t really stand his voice. Tsk.

IMG_8374

Oh look, its Miranda monroe. Definitely beats the one in USs.

IMG_8442

And also my fav,Charlie Chaplin.

IMG_8440

Batman in action!

IMG_8468

Movie world has two parts where the adults and kids have their own world to play in. So here we are, at the Warner Bros. Kids’.

IMG_8445

At the kids’ section, the characters that you meet are Bugs bunny and friends! Whee~ ^^

IMG_8459

IMG_8473

Scooby Doo Show was on!

IMG_8498

Followed by the parade, which I didnt get to catch all as I was enjoying my #5. Scooby Doo Spooky ride.

IMG_8514

To end the day, we watched the final show on Racing Cars- stunts like drifts.

IMG_8659

IMG_8663

If only I drive like them… LOL!

IMG_8669

&So, my dream had come to an end. Finishing it off with the pleasant sunset.

‘My dream came to reality. Don’t Stop Believing. Have Faith, it will all come true someday.’

Standing from above 550 feet ~

You can only see ‘beautiful’ from above.

945936_10153029409365456_1940811076_n

Blessed, we have Ben, whom had obtained 5 tickets for each of us to get our feet on the Singapore Flyer.

It was a Sunday (28 July 2013), which explained the overwhelming passengers we had to share our capsule with. Sucks, especially with annoying running kids.

936477_10153029411010456_1812279673_n

It was my third time on the flyer and this time, there was a vast improvement, in terms of ‘going-on board’ experience.

Well, as for the others, that day, they were all virgins. I was literally, surprised! Like, who hasn’t been on the flyer? LOL!

538996_10153029411375456_1350584173_n

We were specific with the time of ‘flight’. Sun set, that’s the most beautiful time of all.

Besides, you get best of both worlds- day and night scenary.

540711_10153029412795456_916241658_n

We managed to get a snap shot of the 5 of us.

1001374_10153029409300456_1376313928_n

Dawn complained she has height phobia, that’s why she was on a seat. Whereas for me, I am just too lazy to stand. LOL.

Singapore’s night scenery -mark as one of the best views in Asia.

IMG_8471

IMG_8481

Some tourists are just far too nice than expected. 🙂 Because it was already dark and the lighting was quite bad, they used their Canon DSLR to capture for us! Not bad eh!

533672_10153029474410456_1974172406_n

Ben’s Blackberry ain’t that useless after all.

We had dinner at Saboten –my superb recommendation. ^^ That everyone agreed it was GOODFOOD.

The night was still young, and the boys complained that it wasn’t that easy to meet me up anytime soon. Since I was always busy.

IMG_8485

Hence, we need a chill out place, which I suggested to go LOLA’S CAFE. Had always wanted to try this new cafe in Kovan whenever I drove past it.

In addition to the reviews I had read online before, the tarts are pretty well recommended by many.

IMG_8486

So, when we first stepped into the cafe, indeed, it was a small typical cafe, which could not accommodate many. But, it has its own unique interior design giving off the feel of being in the 70s’ era.

IMG_8487

Their tables are old sewing machines!

IMG_8491

IMG_8490

The walls are filled and decorated with glass frames. –Artistc much?

IMG_8489

Menu was ‘clipped-board’ styled and they serve breakfast, brunch and dinner too.

What’s great is the fact that the price are affordable with no GST or Service charge!

IMG_8497

photo

For drinks, we ordered:  green matcha latte (served in a milk bottle), cappuccino, mocha latte

For desserts, we ordered: Honey Panna Cotta (my favourite among all), Chocolate brownie with ice cream, Caramelised Banana with Early Grey tea tart (if you are a tea lover, you’ll love this. Its a love it or hate it choice.)

Well, I am glad I found a new place to hang out. Plus, it is located near my suite!

Cafe Hopping, always one of my favourite hobbies in life.  🙂 Till then~
